Six Weeks Before Move:

  • Call for moving estimates.
  • Call the Chamber Of Commerce and Visitors & Convention Bureau in your new town and get their new resident information packages.

  • Remove all items from basement, storage sheds, attics, and plan a garage sale or charity donation for all items you don't want to move.
  • Start using things up that you can't move, like cleaning supplies and frozen food.
  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.
  • Complete U.S. Postal Service change of address forms and mail them to all applicable publications, stores and organizations.
  • Get copies of (or arrange for transfer at both ends of move) all school, medical, dental, veterinary, legal, and accounting records.
  • Contact insurance agents to transfer or cancel coverage.
  • If it's a company move, check with your employer to find out what moving expenses they cover.
  • Get a mail subscription for the local paper in your new location to familiarize yourself with the new community, its activities and issues.
  • Locate and obtain all automobile licensing and registration information.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

What my clients are saying

"Gary is a true professional. One of the most knowledgeable Realtors I've worked with over the past 12 years. Only Agent I deal with for any real estate transactions. This house dale took some extra effort as sales in the Fall slack off. But Gary marketed the house masterfully and it sold quickly." dadnson101 5206 53rd St, Kenosha, WI 53144

"Gary Frederick is very easy to work with, we sold a home using him as our agent and we were very happy with his professionalism and thorough representation with all the ins and outs of selling a property. He made every aspect of selling easier for us. Now we have him again to find a house for us. Would recommend him highly.

Gary recently represented us as the listing agent in the selling of our home of 13 years in the White Caps subdivision of Kenosha. Gary also doubled as our buying agent for our new property nearby. Gary is as good an agent as they come. He is open upfront and honest about expectations as well as his feel for the Kenosha area market was spot on. He makes you feel like you are the only client he has. Always available for questions, quick to respond and fights for you all along the way to closing. Don't hesitate to call Gary first I am glad we did. Tim Smith

My husband and I highly recommend Gary Frederick! Now that we bought our new home and sold our old home, I miss talking to him on a daily basis – he’s become one of the family! Gary is very passionate about his work and ensured that we were well informed during the entire process of buying and selling our home. He delivers excellent customer service with excellent communication and follow-up skills with all parties involved. He’s a wealth of knowledge and helped make the process easier for us. The real estate market has changed so much since the last time we bought a house, and he helped with everything…every step of the way, including going above and beyond. When we had our concerns about something, Gary did whatever it took to put our minds at ease. Even if that meant communicating with us at midnight! Gary is thorough, patient and understanding. His happiness is making sure you’re happy and satisfied, and nothing less! I would highly recommend Gary Frederick to be your realtor!
